Observation 70453: Amanita sect. Vaginatae sensu Zhu L. Yang

Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: From (what I would say to be “tightly packed”) red clay, at the base of a Liriodendron tulipifera (a large Pinus virginiana was the next closest tree).

Pileus:
3cm broad, convex, pale yellow with a “shimmer” to it, smooth, marginally striate (50-60mm)

Lamellae:
Free, white, subcrowded

Stipe:
7.2cm long, Width: Apex-.30mm, Mid: 50mm, Base: 80mm
Creamy white, smooth, no partial veil, base in sac-like vulva

Smell:
No smell was detected (by me), another said “earthy”
