Observation 70644: Boletus variipes Peck

When: 2011-06-30

Collection location: Delaware Water Gap north-west of Portland, Pennsylvania, USA [Click for map]

Who: I. G. Safonov (IGSafonov)

No specimen available

A single basidiocarp growing in leaf litter near a white oak with other hardwoods around. The white reticulation on pale brown background is “edulis-like”, but the overall stature, pileal color and the specific mycorrhizal association places it into the “atkinsonii-nobilis-variipes” cluster.
