Observation 70959: Bolbitius Fr.
When: 2011-07-03
Who: Byrain
Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: Growing in my backyard lawn, deliquescing quickly, I left one to spore print and a few hours later I was left with a partial rusty brown print and a mushroom shaped bubble, it popped when I tried to remove it…

The spores are smooth and with a germ spore, I didn’t find any cheilocystidia, but that could be because the gills quickly started to liquefy as I sectioned them. Might be easier when I try with the dry specimens.

Would they deliquesce like this? I couldn’t decide between Bolbitius and Conocybe till they clearly deliquesced.

I also forgot to mention that the caps were somewhat viscid, it was hard to tell how much due to them being small and fragile.
