for the comment Kari. They really are awesome little mushrooms. Such a vivid red and being in subgenus Myxacium they’re very slimy too. Trying to handle them setting up the photo was comical to say the least.

They grow in your area too, so you have a good chance of finding them. We live in very similar climates and I suspect that we have many species in common.

What beautiful mushrooms Timmi, I’ve never encountered any of those here in South Australia, unfortunately. I especially love the second photo, which clearly shows the partly attached cortina.
