Observation 71374: Polyporus radicatus Schwein.

When: 2011-07-09

Collection location: Saleeby-Fischer YMCA, Rockwell, North Carolina, USA [Click for map]

Who: Matt Sherman (Shermanii)

Specimen available

Notes:
From soil at base of a dead hardwood in mixed woods.
I’ll have to go back and check which living trees were nearby.

Velvety and dark brown at the base of the stipe, while the upper portion is smooth.

Pileus was soft and covered in minute fibrils making in “velvety” as well…just a different color.
Flesh of Pileus is white.

No bruising anywhere from what I noticed.

Spore print is white.
