Recognized by sight: Here’s another species that isn’t known to occur in North America. Wetmore’s description is insufficient to determine what he must have been seeing. I am going to assume that his material must have had a reddish medulla else he would not have used a name like “endococcinea”. In the Sonoran Flora, it would thus key out as P. endococcinodes. It’s at least a working hypothesis…
