Notes: Not sure about this one, non-staining when cut, also bitter.

Recognized by sight: B. pallidus can be slightly bitter, according to B-R-B, but the pore mouths should stain blue-green, while the context doesn’t alway change color. Cannot make out true colors from these pics, but the stipe appears to be too uniformly brownish for B. pallidus.

My previous experience with B. pallidus is limited to seeing many on one day:


My first impression was that this was not the same, but as time was tight, I took the photos and moved on. Thanks also for your comment on the degree of coloration on the stipe. At least one of the photos on my previous observation confirms an alternate pattern.
