Observation 72678: “Gasteromycetes” Fr.
When: 2006-08-26
Collection location: Chernihiv, Ukraine [Click for map]
(51.0° 31.0° )
No herbarium specimen

Notes: I found these mushrooms in a dried well heated by the sun meadow near Chernihiv Oblast Children’s Hospital, the city of Chernihiv, Ukraine. There were three or four fruiting bodies. Young mushrooms were gray and firm, with more or less smooth skin. Two old fruiting bodies had a very rough skin with sunken furrows. They have large holes passing through them. The holes were covered with red velvet to the touch skin. When breaking in mushrooms revealed a reddish-black spongy mass rough to the touch like paralon.Fruiting bodies were barely attached to the land of the black threadlike strands, which proved to be very fragile.
