this totally makes sense. Differentiating between B. vermiculosus and B. vermiculosoides just by looking at pics is rather difficult. Even in the field I use macrochemical tests to make sure which is which…

Going with that because of the pileus being yellow and the pore surface being dark brown when young. Odor is not exactly pungent though, not to me anyway.
