Observation 73866: Grifola gargal Singer
When: 2011-08-12
Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: I had remember seeing a picture in a catalog of medicinal products made from certain cultivated mushrooms such as maitake, shiitake and others. After a while I remembered the name “Grifola” for having associated with “Gargoyle.” I searched the name online and say to him. Notable are the “villous” whitish on the underside of the little hats crowded. The smell is characteristic of yeast, but soft and slightly fruity. I’ve cut transversely and is notable central body, white and fleshy and moist when squeezed. Was collected at the bottom and grow on the bark of a specimen of Nothofagus obliqua.

Welcome to MO! We are very happy to see a post from Argentina and a message in spanish! Thanks and keep it up!
