Observation 74012: Caloboletus conifericola Vizzini

No herbarium specimen

Notes: Found beneath Western Hemlock and Douglas fir trees on trailside of James pond loop trail at Mora campground.

Rapid, deep blue staining when handled.
Cap- dry, buff brown.
Stem- bulbous and bright yellow-staining blue.
Pores- Bright yellow-staining blue.
Flavor- citrus, tart.

Temp: low 70’s, sunny- constant precipitation from nearby Rialto beach ocean spray.

After visiting Rogers mushrooms site and some other resources I agree that this is most likely B. coniferarum.
