Observation 74226: Boletus subcaerulescens ( E.A. Dick & Snell) Both, Bessette & A.R. Bessette
When: 2011-08-18
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Collected in same patch for three or four years now. Generally, this patch fruits only in June. More bluing than usual on the pores. Bluing is grayish and fades. Cap surfaces are wrinkled.

About 16 years back, I found this type under mixed conifers in October.

One small white pine in oak woods. Looks to me like these associate with the pine, but have spread toward an opening (roadside) through the oaks.

4th pic shows KOH on cap surface.
