Indeed, it is so distinct that you cannot confuse it with any other bolete. I believe it was growing with pitch pines which are by far the dominant conifer in the Pine Barrens. I’ve posted this bolete before, and at that time I found it fruiting in one location in huge numbers at different stages of development.
I’ve not ever seen this distinctive bolete. Do you know what kind of pine?
