Below and right of the prominent Xanthomendoza hasseana that is centered in the frame. Dark yellowish apothecia, smaller, darker, and less orange than X. hasseana’s; no evident thallus, so this may be crusty and blending in with the bark behind it.

On a standing quaking aspen in Zone 14.


Focal plane is at lichen below and right of Xanthomendoza.

The thallus for this one hides under the bark? How does it photosynthesize in there?
