at a NAMA foray in Minnesota. See you next week. Andrus tells me it has been the worst mushroom season he has experienced there.

I see it almost every year as it grows behind my place.

It grows under red oak and develops yellow spots with age. It is not a common species, and I would have imagined that you found it more often than us.
