Erin found a patch of Clavariadelphus in Connecticut this weekend that had rounded to swollen apices, and varied from dull yellowish tan to brick red to pinkish red, all mixed in with no intergrades. The KOH reactions of the forms were different, both tasted similar, and both aged to the same dull brownish-pink color… who knows…

Clavariadelphus lovejoyae is dull red to reddish orange but it tastes sweet.
