I’ll certainly be interested to see the material.

This year has become a year for the fruiting of many undescribed species in section Vaginatae the COMA Labor Day weekend foray in eastern Connecticut was a very interesting display of these mushrooms. We probably won’t know how many taxa we saw until we process all the material that was dried during the last day and night of the foray. We tried very hard to get photographs of all the apparently undescribed taxa. It felt like we were running a race…we were.

Amanita vaginata var. alba

doesn’t usually have any color at all on the cap.

With the exclusion of the pinkish area, was the cap truly as white as it looks in the photos. A cream cap with some pinkish or orangish tints might suggest the provisional name Amanita homolae (www.amanitaceae.org).
