Observation 76244: Royoporus badius (Pers.) A.B. De
When: 2011-09-08
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Black stem base, size, shape and habitat are all identical to earlier posted R. badius from this date and location. The difference with these very fresh specimens is the overall cream colored caps. When mature, R. badius usually has a reddish brown, somewhat shiny cap. Fruiting from hardwood log.

Deciduous canopy: Acer, Quercus, Salix, Carya trees.

Temp: 70’s, sunny.

I live in Olympia, WA state- so, not going to be able to return until next summer when we vacation in the mid West again.
