Found under a Tulip Poplar. Strong odor. The larger specimen has an small “ledge” coming out of the bulb at ground level. Both species have a root around 2". Larger specimen about 4" above ground in height.

Used references: Amanita Studies website, but there is a lot of variation in what we would be calling A. rhopalopus locally. This specimen seems to be somewhat short in stature compared to others. And both specimens have distinct collars at the top of the bulb. So it may not be this.
