that these were found under pine… Shortleaf Pine, I believe; no larch. Some purplish tones on the stipe, likely associated with the veil. These were found in a spot that I visit frequently. Hopefully I’ll find some with a better defined veil. The torrential rainfall has been washing away many mushroom characteristics that tend to be transient.

Color for luteus is listed as fairly variable.

The cap looks too light and pale for S. luteus. Did it have a purple veil?
