Fulvum is described

as having a fibrillose cap. The caps in this obs were perhaps only faintly fibrillose. A few of the photos I’ve found for transmutans show a fibrillose cap, but not all of the photos show this. So maybe transmutans is the best fit here. Of course there’s just not enough info provided here in my obs to get any closer to an ID.

Imbricatum was another one I had briefly considered. But I saw no sign that the caps were (or would become) scaly.

Pessundatum appears to be yet another possibility.

Tricholoma fulvum while you are at it. There is a N. America Tricholoma book due out next year. I don’t know which are worse the brown ones or the gray ones.
