Recognized by sight: Peridium has spore masses. Thus it belongs to the E. muricatus “group”. Parasitization by Cordyceps capitata makes spore data inconclusive, along with color. Would need an unparasitized sporocarp for accurate species of host Elaphomyces to be made.
