Spores 7-9 × 4-5 microns. Basidia 4-spored, ~25 × 8; sterigmata 3 microns. Cheilocystidia 20-35 × 9-13, sometimes irregularly shaped; fingers up to 13 × 2 microns, sometimes branched. Pleurocystidia absent (or like basidioles). Hyphae of the pileipellis rarely diverticulate, clamped, make dense masses, difficult to resolve.

Gills stain reddish brown.
