Recognized by sight: the flat brown scales on the cap, the ring on the stipe and the very special odour of this mushroom characterize it, plus the non-coloured spores which are a bit triangular-bullet-shaped. The spores in the microscope slides are from another, brown-spored, species (they are rough too).
