I found this searching for pholiota in relation to distinctly spicy smell. Root beer didn’t come to mind on mine, but it was distinctly sweet and spicy, a lot like cinnamon. Curious about others’ finds of remarkably fragrant pholiota, as I’m not seeing references to the smell in the guide books! Thanks, Lauren
