grows on hazel and alder, fascicularis on aspen. The latter is much smaller, but usually not as rusty coloured as this one. I can’t say for sure what it is..

I have only seen the Encoelia once before and that was growing on dead Hazel (Corylus). In this current case the wood was very dead and difficult to tell species but could have been Aspen (poplus) or Alder (Alnus).
