unless all suspect A. breckonii observations lived under a single species list roof or were all appended with a key term in notes or comments, they would be woefully indistinguishable.

Jessica or I (or both) will get to deconstructing this disguise on Monday and post back here with our findings. What ought we look for?

If it’s not tagged with this name on MO, it becomes impossible to find it; lost in the hundreds of Amanita sp. listed on MO. At least this way, it will pop up in a search and can be renamed when a published name is finalized. Even if it is an error, this name is published with photos of THIS mushroom, so it’s still a good starting point AND as of now, the only name we have to talk about this fungus.
