Notes: Caps 2 1/2 to 3" in diameter. Taste extremely bitter. Odor very aromatic —perhaps sweet or fruity. Flesh dingy yellow. Growing on hardwood log 10/21/11.

Recognized by sight: Looking at G. junonius or possibly G. luteus.

Based on microscopic features: somewhat warty spores, 7 -9 × 5.5 -7 um
Based on chemical features: KOH on cap orange or amber, then slowly to black (specimens were a bit waterlogged, which could have an affect on chemical reactions)
