Observation 80683: Clitocybe nebularis (Batsch) P. Kumm.

No herbarium specimen

Notes: Found growing in litter beneath mixed conifer/hardwood forest. Returned seven days later, caps were significantly larger and had a distinct skunky smell.

Quickly keys out: cap lacking blue or green, cap lacking brown, cap grey = C. nebularis, although I did not observe a skunky smell, and the 9-15 cm average cap width is way too big for these specimens at this time. More like 4-6 cm. I will try to return in a week or so and see if they have grown in size and/or in odor.
