Observation 81226: Cortinarius anomalus (Fr.) Fr.
When: 2011-10-21
Collection location: Thoiry, France [Click for map]
Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: Found under oaks, beech, fir.

Cap light grey-tan, gills grey, some with light lilac-blue gills, stipe grey to light tan, cottony with a velar zone half way up, fibrous cortine at top of stipe. Non-viscid cap and stipe. No reaction to KOH in context, cap grey in KOH.

Micro-shot is of spores from the veil at 1000x in KOH. The spores are brown, warted, sub-globose. Apr. size is 9 × 7 um.

This matches well with C. anomalus in Funga Nordica, but key is weird and it is hard to get there. This name was also suggested by others at the SMG meeting.
