Notes: Under mixed hardwood. Fruiting in great numbers. Staining and spore morphology conform more closely to L. insigne than other red-capped leccinum. Scabers on this specimen were light brown.

Based on microscopic features: Spores are subfusiform, 10-11 × 4 microns.
Based on chemical features: Stained very briefly pink, then lavender and finally black. Context of pileus light blue in 10% iron sulfate.
