Observation 82781: Tricholoma caligatum group
When: 2011-11-18
Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: Found under Pinus virginiana in predominantly Pine woods. There were a few, very young, hardwoods in the area but not right near the location of the specimens. In the last photo (The habitat photo) shows a hardwood tree in the background on the left side, but in my rush to get back to the house in time to leave for work, I forgot to try and I.D. it.

The smell was similar to that of observation (81626) http://mushroomobserver.org/81626?q=9JQa but this one had a noticeable “sweet” smell.
The flesh smelled like an Agaricus that you buy from the grocery store and was a nice smell.

The taste was like that of an Agaricus that you buy from the grocery store.
It tasted good.

I think the photo thing was either my eyes or the computer I was using at the time, who knows.
I’m not sure if Tricholoma magnivelare is usually found in that area. I moved from that location a few months after this find and haven’t gotten the chance to go back to hunt mushrooms.
I havent gotten the chance to post any finds up here where I am now because I don’t have internet. So if I don’t respond for a while, that is why.
Happy Hunting to All!

on my monitor.

Mushooms look similar to the T. caligatum types I sometimes (uncommonly) find here in PA. But the ones I find are invariably bitter-tasting. Matt, is T. magnivelare known to occur in your area?

I dont notice a difference

I havent experienced that problem. And when I look at your leatherman in full resolution, I’m not sure that you have it either..

Is anyone else having the problem of their photos becoming blurry after uploading them to Mushroom Observer?
My photos loose quality after the upload for some reason. The clarity is not what it is when uploaded from my camera to my computer’s iPhoto.
Does anyone have this problem or know how to fix it?
