Observation 82891: Cortinarius cacodes M.M. Moser & Ammirati

Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: These had viscid caps up to 8.7 cm across. The cap flesh was violet tinged.
Spores were ~ 10.3-11.4 X 6.1-7.0 microns.
KOH on the cap was reddish and became darker red with time.
KOH on the stem was slightly yellow as it was also on the cap and stem flesh.
The habitat was mixed conifers.
The Arora keys seem to lead to Cortinarius largus or something similar.

I just collected this exact same mushroom at SP…down to the KOH rxns (done about an hour ago).

Isn’t it cool we can finally put a name to some of these interesting corts?
