Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: Viscid caps up to 10.0 cm across.
Creamy colored cap flesh that turns light yellow.
Spores ~ 9.0-11.0 X 5.3-6.3 microns and slightly rough.
KOH on cap was reddish brown.
KOH on cap flesh was a light reddish brown.
KOH on the stem ~ neg.

I am very familiar with this cort. It is a close relative of C. variosimilis. In fact it is particularly abundant at one of the spots just above Mendocino where the crowds walk a lot. I have many photos too.

Never seen it south of Mendocino…
