Deprecated means it’s an old name no longer used on MO. The current synonym would then be suggested by the database. This allows the users of MO to use the most up-to-date name and still touch base with an older name they remember.

. . . according to MO when I suggested the name. I don’t know what that means (so please educate me), but the name is still being used in Australia according to the online reference I used. MO suggested Phellinus Robusta as an alternative (as per a prior suggestion by Ireanea).
