Observation 83593: Hygrocybe virescens (Hesler & A.H. Sm.) Montoya & Bandala

Notes:
First two photos taken on 28 November 2011 (see below). Four days later I went back out looking for this location. I found the rotting/drying specimen which I had photographed on the 28th. I dug all around in the mulch until I found this little guy. I have dried it and have the herbarium specimen if anyone is interested. This observation reflects the first observation of this species on the UCSC Campus Natural Reserve.

Sorry bout the bad quality of the photos. I noticed it was green and thought i’d better take a picture, I didn’t realize it was going to be a rare find!!! There was a baby one beneath it, I can try to check the same spot on wednesday to see if it developed as well. It appeared more green in person than in the photos, I was using a point and shoot. Between West rd and Red Hill rd. north of North fuel break rd.
