Notes: Fruiting on well-rotted oak; up to 3 inches tall. Here we are debating whether this might be a Xylaria sp. or an old Clavaria.

Recognized by sight: Possibly Xylaria polymorpha.

Recognized by sight: They look a bit skinny to me for _X. polymorpha, but it seems worth connecting it with the name for search and such. I know there’s an online key on this group, but I couldn’t remember enough details to track it down.
