This is growing in our bamboo at home. It looks totally alien, so I looked up images of star shaped fungus. Clathrus archeri – Octopus Stinkhorn seemed to be what it is, but I haven’t seen the “eggs” that people talk about, nor does this one seem to smell bad.

However, this images is very like one on the web I found, and the information says that they came from Autralia/NZ via bamboo farms.

This is the second or third one we’ve had, its very strange looking, but I love it.

Used references: I looked up images of star shaped fungus. However, this one doesn’t appear to smell bad, at least I didn’t notice an aroma when I was taking pictures
