For some reason this one likes Santa Cruz where it is abundant. I do not see it anywhere else.

It’s fairly common in my part of the coast, but apparently not so much elsewhere.

The large size, clustered growth and initially white colors that become dingy buff-pink especially on the gills help to identify it. It also has rhizomorphs.
