I have a drawing from an earlier collection Koksilah Ridge on January 6, 2003. Spores were 12.5-16 × 6.5-8 µm. Castellano et al. (1999) Strategy no 1, p. S1-84 give the following spore sizes: (12)13.5(15.5) x (6)6.5(8) µm. Their distribution map shows coastal CA & S OR, & Kilckitat Co.(? two interior dots in WA). Kanouse in his original description gives 10-12(14) x 6-7 µm.
On southern Vancouver Island Otidea smithii is rarer than O. onotica and we know it from about five locations. In our 8-years survey of Observatory Hill we saw it in 4 different years.
