No herbarium specimen

Notes: Caps on these are a little less reddish than usual.
My spore measurements were ~ 12.0-14.1 X 6.0-7.5 microns, somewhat wider than reported by Thiers.

that is poisonous.
“My” Aureoboletus gentilis isn’t for sure (self test), indeed it tastes very well.

Yes, it looks very similar to Aureoboletus auriporus, which is what it sounds like you found, Mvrak.

Looks identical to pictures, right next to a tree in the woods, maybe oak… confused that all references say California only.

edit: It honestly looks closer to the pictures for this than Auriporus, but I’ll trust your judgement. No edibility/poison data anyways! I think I’ll post an observation…
