Observation 85024: Boletus zelleri Murrill
When: 2011-12-23
Who: fewteeth
No herbarium specimen

Notes: This particular bolete (perhaps Suillus) grows in abundance some years in our mixed pine and oak forest. The red stem and white flesh under the cap are distinctive. It is an excellent edible with the tubes removed and cap peeled. I can find nothing close to it in my references. We would like to know what we are eating.
