Notes: This example of the Eastern Blusher is NOTHING like our Western blusher, now called Amanita novinupta, although they were lumped together for many years.

Note reddening at stem base and at damaged edge of cap.

OK, I’ll bite (so to speak); what makes this blusher different from the European form? Are there populations in N. America that are retaining the old name?
