Try Costa Rica instead

I don’t know the references off the top of my head, but I know there is some serious comprehensive study going on in Costa Rica. Search for TICOLICHEN, for example. There’s got to be a working checklist or catalog somewhere, too. You might try contacting Robert Lücking for suggestions as well, if you are serious. You’ve got some beautiful material!

Definitely need microscopy to get any where with these. The Sonoran Flora vol. I has generic keys to both the pyrenos and scripts. That might be a good place to start. Probably doesn’t have good coverage of the species present in Panama, but once you have the genus, you can start searching the literature for more information at least.
