Locality: Red Rock Canyon, Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta; 49° 7’43.06"N, 114° 1’36.54"W, el. 1476 m

Identification: This lichen resembles MO Observation 69576, which was called Lecidea tessellata, although the margins are quite different.

You should rule out Lecidella, too

For example, the ubiquitous Lecidella stigmatea. I’m no help, though. Chemistry would be good, but is presumably not in the cards.
