When: 2011-09-09

Collection location: Madera Canyon, Santa Rita Mountains, Pima Co., Arizona, USA [Click for map]

Who: Ivan Rodriguez (Ivan Rodriguez)

No specimen available

The sickener, appearing to be quite sick himself. Nature’s creatures have done their worst on this bright red-capped and white-gilled mushroom. Found growing smack in the middle of a hiking trail (surprised I didn’t kick it accidentally!), alone, and near a conifer tree. No distinct/special odor. No discoloration or bruising present. Slightly enlarged at the base.
