Observation 8677: Helvella corium (O. Weberb.) Massee

No herbarium specimen

Notes: There were 3 of these, growing near a stream that was running out of an abandoned mine. The mushrooms were growing on soil, not on buried wood. The stem is no longer than that showed in the picture, and is pitted, as seen in the photo.

Looks like a primitive cup fungus with the lacunate stem added as an afterthought!
