Observation 86859: Stemonitis Gled.
When: 2012-01-21
Who: penumbra
No herbarium specimen

Notes: This was first seen a couple of weeks prior, and was stiff and dry. After recent rain, it was pliable. Not collected since this is a preserve.
It appeared to be “growing” (don’t know what this is) on the cut end of a log near Clavulinopsis corniculata and a bracket fungus. The log also had some small brown mushrooms on it.

this is not Stemonitis. I did not come to a conclusion. Not sure if it is even fungal.

Felt more substantial, like hair, than what I’d expect Stemonitis to feel like (looked thicker, too)
