deprecation/synonymization of names on this site usually occurs as a result of information gathered from IndexFungorum, MycoBank, or both. IF is either down or simply inaccessible to me at the moment, so I’ve checked MycoBank, which does not list G. orbiforme as a synonym for G. boninense. I have re-approved the name accordingly.

Hi,
I’ve been working on G.boninense for few years back. I’m just curious and would like to know why the name has change to G. orbiforme? Anyone has article on this? Does this also mean that we must use the sp name, G. orbiforme in our journal insted of G. boninense.

Thanks.

Are you certain grew from palm?

If so, what kind of palm did it grow from?

Did it grow from a fallen log, or was it standing?

Was it found in a natural area, or disturbed?

Did this specimen have a stem, or maybe a partial stem?
