Thanks for the suggestion, Rod. Looking at this now, I definitely don’t find it to resemble a Leucocoprinus, and it reminds me of A. farinosa done up in yellow.

Rather than a grisette-type of Amanita, if this is an amanita, I’d suggest…

that it might belong in the ringless group of amanitas with a volva persistently connected to the pileipellis by hyphae that are very slow to gelatinize. These taxa can be placed in section Amanita because of the bulb at the stipe base. Some of these taxa have bright colors…including yellow.

My gut reactions are: 1) A robust Leucocoprinus with veil remnants at the base or a very yellow, small, deeply sulcate grisette-type Amanita.
